Apples in 2018??

When we made plans to build this house, one of the first things I did was order custom grafted apple trees from seedsavers–a Ben Davis and a Blacktwig for the side yard. We received the first one in the early spring of 2016 and the second the following year due to a surprise crop failure.

They were pretty pitiful when they arrived–barely 18 inches tall and dormant.

My Ben Davis tree when it was planted in March of 2016.

It’s come a long way in 2 years! Now it is about 4 feet fall and is covered in flower buds that will open any day.

I don’t think I’ll get any apples this year as the tree is still quite young but a girl can dream, right??
